Sofia is a beautiful Italian Segugio, in 2018 she was abandoned in a Italian village nearby Napels. She wandered around the village cemetry, scared and bewildered. Yet she tried to attract the
attention of the people visiting the cemetry, but no one even looked at her. A few days later a volunteer of a dog shelter saw Sofia there. Sofia trusted her and followed her home. She had a
metal collar deep on her neck. She has clearly been abondoned by a hunter as she is not a hunting dog. She only wants to play with every other animal she sees.
Sofia is very affectionate, loves to cuddle, is very active and playful. She loves the sun and hates rain.
Sofia was named Sofia because she has a very aristocratic demeanor and appearance.
After a few months living with a hostfamily she flew in March 2019 to the Netherlands and moved to her for ever home nearby Maastricht. She became the 4th dog of the pack and met her dogfriends:
Rekke (Vizsla), Glenn (English Springer Spaniel, also a straydog) and Lumi (Maltheser, a victim of dogtrade). The four of them form We Are Sofia, you can follow our adventures on Instagram
@wearesofia. Unfortunately Rekke died January 2021 at the age of 11 and Lumi in July 2021 at the age of 6.
Knowing the sorrow and pain of being a straydog, Sofia and her friends are committed to help stray animals. This by baking organic dog biscuits, sell them and donate the money to animal
welfare organisations that focus on stray animals (dog and cats).
